Science, Numbers and Politics

Welcome to the website of the research project Science, Numbers and Politics, funded by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.

This project aims at a critical, interdisciplinary assessment of the relationship between politics and science, and will pay particular attention to processes of “quantification”. Its three main sections address: 1) the historical development of that relationship; 2) the contemporary nexus between politics and (quantifying) science; and 3) European education policies as a case study for assessing the use and significance of quantitative measures and scientific policy advice.

Our website provides you with more detailed information on the project’s approach, goals, and principal focus areas, its organisation and schedule, and the project team members.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
